It took me a while to really appreciate living in a tourist area. I’m from a super small town in Indiana, so it was a huge adjustment. When I was younger, we would vacation here every year, so I think I felt a little bitter about not getting to experience it as a getaway anymore. Isn’t that crazy? I really don’t think I started to love it until this year. This year I obtained my commercial use authorization permit and have been taking tons of family photos in the Smokies. Not only do I absolutely love being in the beauty and serenity of the national park, but I have so much fun meeting families from all over the country, and hearing what this place means to them.
This family has been coming here every year with their sweet daughter, and take a family photo at the same overlook in Cades Cove to commemorate. When they first stared visiting, she was tiny, but now, she is running and playing in the fields. How cool is that to come back to the same place and see how your children have grown up? The Smokies are truly a special place for the residents and visitors alike.

When our session started it was still so hot out, but thankfully they were all troopers and had fun even with the heat and humidity. We had a little surprise visitor mid session by the mill.
By the end of the evening we had the most beautiful sunset shining over the mountains.
